Musical mastery begins with a strong foundation, not shortcuts or social-media gimmicks.
We teach everyone from 5 to 100 years old, because it’s never too early or too late to enrich your life with music: to strengthen hand and mind, sharpen memory, ease strain, preserve dexterity, and fill each day with the beauty of melody and harmony.
I’m Blake Ragghianti—a professional pianist and classical composer since 2005. I trained in music theory, piano performance and pedagogy, and composition, with Donald and Colette Wilkins (Carnegie Mellon University), Harry Coleman (Indiana University Bloomington), and Kenneth Burky and Amanda Ford (Duquesne University), respectively. My pedagogical lineage descends directly from Beethoven and Liszt and is rooted in disciplined technique and expressive interpretation.
Many students want to jump straight into playing their favorite “songs”, but skipping technique in favor of gimmicks and shortcuts leads to long-term frustration and bad habits that stall real progress. My approach—built over 15 years of teaching—uses the centuries-proven Czerny method to develop the whole musician:
strong reading skills,
keen aural recognition,
precise rhythm,
sensitive touch,
“long-phrase” expressiveness,
healthy mechanics, and
real confidence.
This method isn’t rigid—it’s the most fun and effective method for anyone who wants to play more than “Chopsticks” while preventing injury and learning what music is really all about - and with no bad habits.
I bring more than twenty years of creative and professional experience to my teaching, shaped by my work in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, classical composition and performance, arranging, conducting, recording and production, and non-profit management. Since graduating from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Music in 2005, I’ve taught piano, theory, and composition while mentoring musicians at every stage—from beginners and returning adults to conservatory-bound students and professional bands looking to refine and elevate their craft.
If you want a disciplined, artistic, and thoughtful classical piano studio—one that trains both the fingers and the imagination—welcome.
